Dear Robyn and Skippy;

Why is it so much more difficult to develop friendships as I get older? I am blessed with a wonderful husband and children that I adore. I have plenty of extended family nearby. And, I have an abundance of acquaintances. However, I don’t have anyone I would consider to be a close friend who I can talk to about my problems, worries, insecurities, etc.

I need someone to whom I can gripe about my husband’s annoying habits and with whom I can venture out for a drink and conversation on occasion. Friendships used to be easy, but it just seems to get harder and harder the older I get. Sometimes I think there should be a ‘dating’ site for friendships. Any thoughts or advice?
